I mentioned during the meeting yesterday that on a recent Radio 4 programme there was a reference to the difficulty of using scientific data to convince people of your case, when in fact emotive arguments can be much more effective, as proven by Donald Trump in a debate on the MMR vaccine. The programme I referred to was ‘A Brief History Of Cunning’:
but I was mistaken. The programme I should have cited was this episode of ‘Start The Week’ (19.2.2018):
and the section to listen to starts at about 30:40. Nevertheless, both programmes are well worth a listen. The former suggests that Donald Trump is rather less stupid than we tend to think, a thought that has often occurred to me, even if he does often appear semi-articulate.
